Challenge
Reddit's Android app serves millions of users. Growth features ship behind experiments, with telemetry, accessibility and stability that have to hold at that scale, and each initiative runs from experiment setup through rollout and cleanup.
What I did
- Built in-feed onboarding end to end: the initial feed element, feed conversion, telemetry and follow-up fixes, plus continuous onboarding feed support and TalkBack announcements for screen-reader users.
- Shipped the keyword following experience end to end, used by millions of users, and the Comments-in-Feed surface that shows top comments on the feed.
- Rebuilt the Android share sheet with new share action components and a double-row layout, and migrated the sharing and app-rate analytics onto the current telemetry framework, correcting attribution gaps that had reported the wrong post, trigger and completion data.
- Made onboarding submission reliable with WorkManager-backed background retry for failed topic and profile submissions, so a failed write no longer strands the user mid-signup.
- Built the Lite account settings screen and its remote sync, refreshed the email login flow, and fixed production crashes across SMS retrieval, share intents and Compose state.
Outcome
- Keyword Following and Comments-in-Feed live for millions of users.
- In-feed onboarding taken from first feed element to conversion, with telemetry and accessibility in place.
- Sharing and app-rate events on the new framework with correct attribution.
